What is DCM In-Stream?

An in-stream video refers to video ads. DCM is able to serve video ads to video players on a publisher's website.

DCM In-Stream ads are VAST compliant. VAST stands for "Video Ad Serving Template". It is a set of standards set by the IAB that allows for widespread compatibility across the web for video ad serving.

VAST is the IAB-established 3PAS standard for In-Stream Video. Traditionally, each website has its own video player with its own look and functionality. VAST standardizes an XML file that acts like a digital filing cabinet, providing links to video files, companion banners, non-linear banners, and tracking pixels that live on DoubleClick’s server. This allows publishers to keep using their own video player, while pulling in the assets they need from DoubleClick's servers.

What is VPAID?

VPAID stands for “Video Player-Ad Interface Definition” and is an IAB-published industry standard for interactive in-stream video ads.
There are two types of VPAID creatives: VPAID linear and VPAID non-linear.

VPAID linear: This type of creative appears by itself, not alongside publisher content. It can appear before, between, or after the publisher's video.
For example, a VPAID linear creative might interrupt a publisher's cartoon to display a video commercial with interactive graphics overlaying the advertiser's video content. LIVE EXAMPLE

VPAID non-linear: This type of creative only overlays content over a publisher's video, and will not interrupt the publisher's content. However, interacting with the overlayed creative (with a click) can interrupt the publisher's video and render the advertiser's content instead.
For example, a VPAID non-linear creative might show a small image across the bottom of a publisher's cartoon. Clicking the image might interrupt the publisher's cartoon and load a video that takes up the whole video player.

Difference:

VAST :In-stream video redirect creatives allow DCM to track other in-stream video creatives, including those that are running on a non-DoubleClick ad server. The in-stream video redirect creative has no assets and redirects to a VAST URL you specify. You’ll add the VAST URL in your creative and can specify the same settings as a video creative, including companions.

VPAID:VPAID creatives are rich media creatives that render in a publisher's in-stream video player. They typically use a Flash asset and involve video content and rich media. One important ability of VPAID creatives is that they can pause or mute the publisher's video player and bring up their own content, including interactive options.





Iframe in iframe isn't recomended in DCM

DCM doesn’t officially support the implementation of IFrame in IFrame due to some known technical issues. If you piggyback an IFrame Floodlight tag, or a 3rd party IFrame tag you might encounter some problems.

We suggest only piggybacking image Floodlight tags. This will avoid any Iframe in Iframe issues. Image tags will not fire any other default/publisher tag implemented inside them.

Known technical reasons Iframe in Iframe causes issues:

-Some old browsers have problems in rendering nested Iframes if they don't have an unique ID attribute. This problem is usually resolved by assigning a specific ID attribute to each Iframe , for example:

Flatrate impressions set up in DCM

If any one has any query relkated to flat rate and how it can be set in DCM to calculate the value correctly then you should follow the information below:

I would like to inform you that the cost for Flat Rate is calculated normally until the threshold of the number of booked units just like CPM. So, in order to calculate the flat costs correctly, we recommend to enter 1 in the units field and then the cost of the placement you have agreed under 'cost' and select 'cap cost'. In this way, if one impression is served, the cost will be reached and thus you will pay the fixed amount. The real purpose of the Flat Rate would be to have an absolutely fixed
cost regardless of the impressions, and at this moment it can be achieved in DCM inputting Flat Rate cost with just 1 unit.

The "flat rate" function allows you to set a cap on the cost, but if you don't hit the clicks set, then the cost doesn't accrue. Once the booked number of clicks is reached, no additional cost accrues."

HTML5 Specs

Standard sizes: 160x600, 300x250, 300x600, 468x60, 728x90 and 320x50 (mobile).

Files must only contain one HTML script file + images. Cannot contain additional javascript files. HTML file must be named index.html.

Image file names cannot contain spaces.

Must be built in Flash Professional CC and developed as a HTML5 Canvas, or hardcoded.

Cannot be built in Adobe Edge – significant clickTag issue with multiple files.

Must contain clickTag: {window.open(window.location.hash.substr(1,window.location.hash.length),"_blank");}

Maximum file size: 150kb (inclusive of all files)

Creative cannot be over 30 secs. Best practice is no loops. You can choose to build a refresh button into creative for user initiated replay.

Must have 1 pixel non-white border

Other than the creative area, the html5 file has to have a blank (white) background/canvas.

Dance of the Democracy and the fate of Bengal

It’s 13th May, 2011 , the people of West Bengal become the witness of a historic moment when the ruling party Left Front is defeated by their belligerent opposition Trinamul Congress led by fiercer leader Mamata Bannerjee in the Legislative assembly election. After a record 34 years, CPM has to taste the defeat with a huge margin.

This result would be a shocking for the general people of the other state where the West Bengal is always known as CPM led state but I can tell you this result was confirmed three years back when CPM lost their so many seats to TMC in Panchayet election as well as in Lok Sabha election in 2009. You will say people want the change and they have given their verdict against the ruling party. Yes, one thing is constant in our life that’s change but why it took 34 years? If you want the answer you have to analyse deeply. It is denouement rather than pragmatic.

CPM is always known as most organised party in India and their ethics, discipline and, research works are higher than any party in India. Theoretically Marxism may be the best but practically it is hard to follow. Left Front has been continuing their rules based on totally organisational skill and people of Bengal didn’t have any confident on the other parties. Their party strength was set up at the rural area. But the land grabbing related issue in Singure and Nandigram becomes the cease of their existence. On the same spot the major parties like TMC and Congress started to show their subtle flamboyance to win the confidence of the rural people and they succeed.

The Left Front led govt. led by Chief Minister failed to show the transparency on industrialisation programme and opposition used those as a missile in their election campaigns. In education, infrastructure and work culture every where Lf used their ideology immensely and general people are affected by it. They have used their cadre from the college politics to school level for their own purpose. How many days people will tolerate this so called ‘dada giri’? On the other hand veteran leaders of CPM passed away so iIt was the right time for TMC and congress to blow them out and they did it. So change was swinging in the wind of Bengal people was waiting for the day.

Now it’s Didi’s turn to change the Bengal. Now we have to wait and watch which path she will chose to change the state.

A nation dies for…

A word which already has moved our country, the word which is familiar to every literate and illiterate people, the word which can bring the communal harmony in a vast democracy. Yes , the word is ‘cricket’. It stimulates the young blood. It keeps youth in the utopian world. If Rabindrnath Tagore was alive a masterpiece might have come from his pen for cricket. But we don’t have any regret for that. Thanks to famous cricket journalists who depicts the colour cricket in newspaper.

Though I’m not so famous sports journalist but I’m trying to write something for cricket for the first time in my writing career because I’m the eye witness of cricket world cup, 2011 where my nation has grabbed the top position. About 28 years ago when India’s all time greatest all rounder Kapil Dev lifted the world cup in British soil I was only a just born kid. That world cup was the biggest upset for the cricket playing nations as a perennial underdog beat Clive Lloyd’s mighty West Indies in final.

But this time whole world became the witness of the youth power of a nation from the beginning. I won’t describe the highlights of the matches because now a days you enjoy each and every moment of the match due to plenty of channels and their amazing technology to present the matches. Umpteenth numbers of time you can see this in your television screen.

This game can delete the boundaries like religion and cust . Cricket is the part of every Indian’s life. Now it transferred to a basic human behavior. Today every parent wants to see their child as a cricketer. Every kid wants to play like Sachin or Dhoni. A baby is not able to crawl or walk perfectly but he will be introduced the bat and ball as his toys.

Do you know the reason behind this immense interest in cricket than football or other games? Let me explain.

Not only Kapil Ddev and Dhoni responsible for this, the society is hugely responsible for it. At the earlier days like sixties, seventies or eighties a family used to have at least three children. So parent used to allow their one child to play football. Remember, soccer is a body contact game any time anyone can injure. But now a day the percentage of nuclear families are high. Do you want your only child to play football? Off course not. On the other hand cricket accessories are also getting cheaper day by day. And last but not least the limited over cricket like 20/20 has crossed all the barriers. A player can earn enough money for playing hard only one and half month. So why don’t we go for cricket?

In the eighties when Mr. Cary Packer from Autralia introduced whole world with the color of cricket no one can imagine 20/20 or IPL will bring revolution in cricket. This form of game has rejuvenated the cricket. The milky white floodlight, colorful attires and full house stadium, do you have any substitute for this entertainment? After all the hustle- bustle of your daily life when you get this entertainment and see your favorite players in the field you will definitely feel relax.

As the modern hurry killed the art of letter writing the limited over cricket entertainment killed the interest of other games. Today few people know about Leander Pase, Saina Nehwal and Bhaichung Bhutia. But I don’t have any regret for that. They are the best at their own domain.

At last we are a great cricket playing nation in the world and we deserve it today. My request will be future generation play cricket, live cricket, dream cricket and love your nation.
